Earth Hour 2011 at ISU!
Earth Hour 2011 - March 26, 8:30-9:30 p.m.
Earth Hour is a worldwide sustainability awareness event, sponsored by the World Wildlife Federation, that recognizes the impacts of global climate change and that we need to do what we can to stop it.
The premise for the event is to shut off the lights for one hour at 8:30 p.m. in your local time zone. During Earth Hour 2010, places like the Golden Gate Bridge and the Las Vegas strip stood in darkness for one hour. Earth Hour 2011 urges participants to go “beyond the hour” and see what they changes they can make in their daily lives to live more sustainably.
For Earth Hour 2011 at ISU the GreenHouse Group, with assistance from IRHA and the Frederiksen Court Community Council, has coordinated the following activities – free for all on-campus residents:
→ Lights Out – All residential students are encouraged to shut off their lights for the hour.
→ Play GLOW Capture the Flag on Central Campus - Arrive at 8:00 p.m. To sign up yourself and friends for the same team, email firstname.lastname@example.org
→ Watch Wall-E (free) - South Ballroom, Memorial Union at 8:30 p.m.
