House History

Named for Mabel Anderson (1896-1957). Anderson joined the Iowa State staff as manager of the Maple Tea Room in 1926 and continued there until 1928 when she became food service director at the Memorial Union where she remained until her death in 1957. During World War II she was responsible for staffing and equipping the food service programs at Friley Hall and the Memorial Union for navy personnel and civilians.
