House History
Named for William Niles (1858-1939) and John Foster (1876-1940).
William Niles was a professor of veterinary medicine. In addition to his teaching he carried on research in tuberculosis and hog cholera and was one of the men who developed immunizing hogs against cholera.
John Foster came to Iowa State as Dean of Men in 1922 and served in this capacity until 1927 when he became Dean of the Summer Session and a member of the Vocational Education Department. He served as President of Iowa State Teachers Association.
