House History
Named for W.H. Stevenson (18-72-1951). A world-renowned agriculturist, Stevenson joined Iowa State in 1902, became the head of the department of farm crops and soils in 1910, and served in this capacity until 1932. Stevenson’s directed the Iowa Soil Survey. In 1921 he was appointed as a representative of the United States on the permanent committee of the Institute of Agriculture at Rome, Italy.
