This section is for people who may need to arrive before their official move-in dates. If you need Early Arrival housing, please log in to the Housing Portal to complete an Early Arrival Request. (available beginning mid-June)

Move-in works best when everyone arrives on their official move-in date, but we understand that is not possible for everyone. 

Anyone who arrives early will be charged per night from the date they check in until their official move-in date. These charges are placed on the September U-bill. You can reduce these charges by being part of Move-In Crew.

  • Cost: $25 per night
  • Dates available: Early arrival for fall 2024 can begin on Saturday, Aug. 17.

Arrival Process

Check in is available between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.

  1. Go directly to your residence hall
  2. Find your hall desk to get your move-in packet and keys
  3. Unload your items – you have 90 minutes and then your vehicle needs to be relocated to the stadium parking lots so others can park close and move in.

Sorority & Fraternity Recruitment

Those arriving for sorority or fraternity recruitment will receive move-in information directly from the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Engagement. The fees previously paid to participate in recruitment do not cover the cost of early arrival housing and the fees will be on your U-bill.

International Student Temporary Housing

International students who will arrive early to participate in International Student Orientation can request Interim Housing. Students who utilize Interim Housing will be charged per night from the date they check in to Interim Housing until their official move-in date.

  • Cost: $25 per night
  • Location: Maple Hall
    • All rooms are single gender, double occupancy, with two single beds in each room, both of which will be lofted with furniture underneath each bed. Only the provided furniture is allowed in the rooms.
    • The Maple-Willow-Larch (MWL) Hall Desk is located in the commons building between the three building and will be open for check-in and check-out.
  • Dates: August 3 – 14
    • Check-in begins: 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 3
      • Go to the MWL Hall Desk to receive your keys and complete the check-in paperwork.
      • If the Hall Desk is closed at the time you arrive, there will be 24/7 On-Duty phone number posted at the building for you to call.
    • Check-out begins: 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14
      • All students must be out of Temporary Housing by no later than 8 p.m.
      • Go to the MWL Hall Desk to return your key and complete the check-out paperwork.

Early Arrival Meal Plan

Meal plans officially begin on Tuesday, Aug. 20. Until then, an Early Arrival Meal Program is available for students who are moving into their fall housing assignment before the scheduled move-in date of their residence hall or apartment. These meals can be used starting Saturday, Aug 17, in all open dining locations, 

Request an Early Arrival Meal Plan by noon on Friday, Aug. 16. All plans will be loaded onto your ISUCard by 5 p.m. on Aug. 16.
