Birch, Welch, and Roberts Halls are three buildings continuously linked together, located on the east side of the ISU campus, near the Lied Recreation Center and across Lincoln Way from the Iowa State Center. Rooms are not air-conditioned. Passenger elevators are not available in this low-rise building. Group bathrooms are conveniently located on each floor with private shower stalls and clean surroundings.

Birch, Welch, and Roberts Hall beds are lofted, which means that every bed is raised high enough for a desk with bookshelves to be placed underneath and the bed ends (or sometimes an additional piece) serve as a ladder.
