House History
Named for Hugo Otopalik (1890-1953) Served as the Head Wrestling Coach at Iowa State for 30 years – leading the team to the NCAA Championship in 1933. He coached the 1932 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team, guiding the squad to three golds and two silver medals. Helped run the first NCAA Wrestling Championships, held in Ames, in 1928.
