House History
An instructor of civil engineering, Lowell Stewart was interested in counseling work and contributed much to the organization of the Ward System. After serving as personnel officer in the college of engineering, Stewart became head of civil engineering in 1938. He also served as acting Dean of Engineering. He was a frequent contributor to technical journals and was an author of several engineering texts.
