House History
Named for Raymond Pearson (1873-1939). Pearson served as the seventh president of Iowa State from 1912 to 1926. Iowa State made a phenomenal growth during his administration, much of which can be traced to his foresight, planning and energy that he brought to support the University. He had a firm belief in the cultural value of scientific and technical studies and maintained that they were of equal value to the classics and humanities as a means of developing character and leadership. The aggressive and uncompromising attitude with which he worked for the University and his ability and steadfastness of his purposes did much to give the institution its high standing in state, national, and international circles.
