House History

LANCELOT, William H. (1875-1965) was a graduate of Iowa State (1919), did graduate work at both Columbia University and the University of Chicago. He received an honorary D.Ed. from Miami University, Ohio. He came to Iowa State as an instructor in chemistry in 1914, was appointed to the vocational education department in 1918, and was head of that department from 1923 to 1936. He retired in 1944 but remained associated with the department. He was the author or co-author of books on soil chemistry and educational methods. He was the organizer of both the U.S. and Iowa vocational educational associations. He received the Iowa State Faculty Citation in 1956.
