Over 8,500 Iowa State University students choose to live on-campus in residence halls and student apartments. Why should you live on campus?

In order to be eligible to live in on-campus housing, you must be in good financial standing with ISU
and must meet one of the following criteria:
- you must be enrolled as a student at ISU; or
- You must be enrolled in the Admissions Partnership Program (APP), offered through ISU and several community colleges located throughout the state of Iowa.
Some campus neighborhoods also have an age requirement. Your eligibility is determined by your age as of August 1 for contracts that begin fall semester or January 1 for contracts that begin spring semester. Eligibility requirements for specific neighborhoods are as follows:
Residence Hall Communities - Click on a neighborhood for more information.
- Richardson Court and Union Drive = Available to new freshmen and transfers 18 and younger, continuing undergraduate students.
- Buchanan Hall and Wallace Hall = Available to new freshmen and transfers 19 or older and continuing students. Buchanan Hall also houses the EILC Learning Community and has two floors dedicated to graduate students or students 21 or older.

- Frederiksen Court = Available to new freshmen and transfers 19 or older and continuing students.

Schilletter and University Villages
- University Village (UV) - Single Student Housing - Available to new freshmen and transfers 19 or older, continuing students and Post Docs. ISU faculty/staff members may live in UV at a non-student rate.
- Schilletter Village (SV) - Family Housing - Available to new any student married or in a domestic partner relationship and/or with custody/visitation rights for dependent children; the student's spouse/domestic partner and/or dependent children. ISU faculty/staff members may live in SV at a non-student rate. Guest Housing is also located in SV.
