Winter Break Information

Whether you want to stay for winter session classes, have a job or just feel like staying in Ames, we have you covered during winter break!

Geoffroy, Buchanan, Wallace, Wilson, Frederiksen and SUV Remain Open – No Sign Up Required

The areas listed above are open during winter break. There’s nothing you need to do if you plan to be in Ames over break. If you do leave for a few days, we’ll be sharing tips on what to do if you’ll be gone – things like leaving your heat on and taking your fish home!

All Other Areas – Remain Open, Sign Up is Required

If you live in any of the halls not listed above, you’re welcome to stay and will need to sign up for the Dec. 20, 2020, through Jan. 6, 2021, break time period. Sign up is required by Dec. 19 and you can do that by logging in to StarRez here and signing up.

Nov.  28 – Dec. 19, 2020

No sign up is required to be on campus during this time.

Staff will be on call 24/7. Please call the on-duty number listed in your building. As always, call 911 for emergencies. Mailrooms will be open limited hours.

Your fall semester meal plan will end on Jan. 6, 2021. ISU Dining will have services available. Open locations and their operating hours will be posted on the ISU Dining website by early November.

Dec. 20, 2020 – Jan. 6. 2021 – Sign Up is Required to Stay

Sign up is required by 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 19 to stay during this time if you live in Friley, Eaton, Martin, Helser, Birch, Welch, Roberts, Barton, Lyon, Freeman, Maple, Willow or Larch.

If you plan to stay, log in here. Select the Winter Break Housing tab to fill out the form and let us know when you plan to be here between Dec. 20 and Jan. 6. If you do not sign up to stay, your access card will be turned off from Dec. 20 – Jan. 6.

Your ISU Dining fall meal plan will be active during this time and services will be available. Open locations and their operating hours will be posted to the ISU Dining website by early November.

Jan. 7 – Jan. 24, 2021

No sign up is required to be on campus. Access cards that were turned off will be turned on Jan. 7 and you’re welcome to come back to campus anytime.

Your spring meal plan begins on Jan. 7 and ISU Dining services will be available. Open locations and their operating hours will be posted to the ISU Dining website by early November.
