Rachel Wagner Named Associate Director of Residence Life

AMES, Iowa – Rachel Wagner, Director of Residence Life at the University of Dayton, has been named Associate Director of Residence Life for Iowa State University’s Department of Residence. Wagner is expected to begin at ISU in June.

“Rachel brings tremendous thinking and energy to the responsibility of building residence hall and apartment communities that focus on student success,” said Director of Residence Pete Englin. “She also has a proven track record for building connections with students and colleagues that elevates everyone around her. We’re delighted she will be joining us in June.”

In her current role, Wagner oversees a $3.1 million budget that provides traditional, suite style and apartment housing for roughly 6,400 on-campus residents. Prior to being named to her current position at Dayton, the Ohio native served one year as Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life and four years as Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life. Wagner has also worked in residence life systems at the University of Massachusetts and the University of Arizona.

“I am absolutely thrilled to join the incredible staff and student community at Iowa State University in the Department of Residence,” said Wagner. “I have admired the good work of residence life for quite some time and through my interview developed a rich appreciation for the university's commitment to student success and flourishing.  I look forward to partnering to continue the strong record of achievement of the residence life unit.”

Wagner earned her Bachelor of Arts in American Studies (’96) and her Master of Science in Education in College Personnel (’00) from the University of Dayton. She is currently working on her doctorate in Social Justice Education through the University of Massachusetts.

Wagner replaces Ginny Arthur, the current Associate Director of Residence Life. Arthur is retiring in May after 37 years working in Iowa State’s Department of Residence.
