Academic Resources
One of our primary goals is to help students who live in the residence hall system succeed academically and graduate. There are many resources available to you.
- As a new first year student, you have the opportunity to participate in an exciting new program called MAP Works. By taking this inventory during the third week of classes you will learn about any gaps between your behavior and desired outcomes; learn about ways to narrow those gaps and improve your chances for success; gain insights about yourself and your peer group; and connect with campus resources specifically designed to support your success.
- Residence staff members (hall directors, apartment managers, community advisors, and resident managers) are available where you live and equipped to assist you with your academic and personal success.
- Psych 131 is a one-credit-hour course designed to help students with their transition to college. Students will learn a variety of academic skills and study strategies.
- Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an internationally recognized academic support program offering free, regularly scheduled study sessions for traditionally difficult courses.
- There are many programs across campus designed to help you succeed. Check out http://www.dso.iastate.edu/asc/ for more information.
